Lately, it seems that my mind has been overly focused on my ADHD. I know, that sounds ironic. Anyway, if you any sort of problem, whether it be ADHD, depression, or chronic halitosis, the temptation is to dwell on that problem. We dwell on how to fix it, how it affects us, or how to work around it. We read self-help books and web sites about the problem. We learn about our problem on Wikipedia. We view videos about our problem on YouTube. In other words, when we have a problem such as ADHD, it can become the thing we think about most. But there’s a problem with that.
God wants first on our mind. He wants us to have him in our thoughts first and foremost. And even though He deserves to be first in our thoughts, that’s not the only reason he wants to be there. It’s because as we dwell on Him, He changes us. As we put him first, he takes care of our needs.
Matthew 6:33
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. (NLT)

WOW! I. feel like I’m on to something here! My ADD story too long and heartbreaking to tell here. At 62years I’m just coming out of the fog. Woke at 4:30 having fireworks thoughts one being Google devotional ADD! After scrolling past the rejects this was the first hit. And of all things a plain simple understandable one exactly why I searched! How to get God’s word in to this rowdy brain. This site better stay up the rest of my life or I’m going postal!
Thank you so much for your comment. It’s been much too long since I last posted. Your comment has encouraged me to get active on this blog again.
YES! I didn’t realize the post was 2 years old until my wife pointed it out. Consider it God’s humorous way of playing with our ADD brains. You write a post specifically for me then wander off to who knows where. Hopefully digesting new insights and stories for your fabulous come back! It takes me 2 years to get around to reading it and I thought it was today’s edition. Wonder if thunder is actually God having a good belly laugh? I’ll go to the beginning and feast on those. Hopefully you’ll be in gear before I catch up.. Looking forward to this. Just started seriously dealing with my ADD at 62 and need all the tools I can get. Don’t all men?
Forgot to mention that I can’t be the only spectator in the house. When I Googled ADD Devotional this post was the first legitimate ADD related hit. You must be doing SOMETHING right!
